Advanced Directives and Living Wills—A Guide to Maryland Law on Health Care Decisions

Who makes the important decisions about medical care and procedures when there is a serious, life-threatening condition? Over the years here at RUC we have encouraged everyone to complete a packet which includes your Advance Directives, Living Will, funeral arrangements, and persons to be contacted.

Are You (or a Loved One) Standing in the Need of Prayer?

So—how do we as a congregation know for whom we need to pray? You have seen the inserts in the Sunday Worship bulletin—the list of those whom we hold dear in our prayers. To add a name, of course you can respond to Rev. Clark's invitation during the service. You can also just call the office  at (301) 424-6733 and let them know briefly for whom you request the prayers, and a phrase indicating how this person is connected to you, and what the situation is. Even better would be a call to Rev.

Health Care Manager

Are you anxious about growing older? Have you ever worried about how you would find a continuing care retirement community for yourself or your parents? Do you understand what the doctor is telling you?

As the Elder for Congregational Care last year, I was very involved in identifying the care needs of our members and setting up the program of the Health Care Manager. Little did I know that the lessons I learned in implementing this program were lessons I would be able to apply to dealing with my 90+ year-old parents.
